Legislators

As our state representatives and senators there are a few steps you can take to participate in and promote Arbor Day:

Step 1: Participate in the GFC Seedling Program.

Simply complete this form and the GFC will donate seedlings in your name as part of Georgia’s Arbor Day. More information is provided in this introductory letter. To publicize your participation in the seedling program, here is a Media Outreach Strategy, along with a Media Advisory and Press Release. You can donate the seedlings to a local Keep America Beautiful affiliate, or a nonprofit organization of your choice.  Join other legislators who are participating in the GFC Seedling Program.

Step 2: Join an Arbor Day event to let your constituents know you care.
There are various community tree groups that are hosting Arbor Day events and would very much like to include you, as their representative, in these events. Check our listing of events to find out what's happening in your district.

Step 3: Tell other legislators, the media and your constituents about Arbor Day. The statewide theme each year is created to articulate the benefits of urban trees.

Step 4: Add Arbor Day messages in constituency relations.
Many important pieces of information can be gleaned from our website for public speeches and written/electronic correspondence to constituents and other interested parties. This includes the value of trees, how to plant trees, and how to care for trees. Also included is a Tool Kit of materials to help your staff tailor your correspondence to the Georgia Arbor Day theme.
