As community leaders there are a few steps that you can take to celebrate Arbor Day:

Step 1: Plan or join an Arbor Day event in your area.
Plan an event to celebrate Arbor Day or join with an organization in your area that is planning one. Here is a Tool Kit to help with your event planning. If your town, city, or county is part of the Tree City USA program, join their activities.

Step 2: Support your Public Works/Parks Departments
As mayor, city councilperson, or county commissioner, you can make a personal mark on Arbor Day by ensuring your public works/parks departments have tools they need to care for trees on public lands. Here are some tips on how to get involved.

Step 3: Teach staff how to get value from planting & caring for healthy trees.
Arbor Day is also about educating people about the benefits of trees and how to care for them. Use the following facts in staff e-mails and community newsletters. Here is a sample e-mail you can send to your staff.
