FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DECEMBER 1, 2025
When Waycross’s Ethan Robertson finished his degree at the University of Georgia, he stepped straight into his forestry career. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the Warnell School of

Forestry & Natural Resources in 2013, then joined the Georgia Forestry Commission as a forestry intern. Since then, he’s gained extensive real-world experience, cruising timber, marking timber sales, and serving as a management forester. He managed Dixon Memorial State Forest before returning to a management forester position in 2020.
“We’re proud to welcome Ethan to his new role of Lead Forester for GFC’s Region 5,” said Georgia Forestry Commission Director Johnny Sabo. “Not only does he excel in forest management, Ethan has taken every opportunity to broaden his skill set. He’s pursuing his passion for incident management, and has served on numerous special assignments across the country, which brings great value to Georgia.”
Robertson’s training has included increasingly challenging incident management experiences. He is now a qualified complex planning section chief and is recognized for his strong leadership capabilities. He is active in community outreach and shares the GFC mission at meetings, fairs, and landowner events.
In his free time, Robertson enjoys hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He stepped into his new role on November 16.
