Tree City USA Program

The Tree City USA program has been greening up cities and towns across America since 1976. It is a nationwide movement that provides a framework to help communities to manage and expand their public trees.

Tree City USA Communities in Georgia

In Georgia, more than 150 communities have made the commitment to becoming a Tree City USA. They have achieved Tree City USA status by meeting four core standards of sound urban forestry management:

  • maintaining a tree board or department
  • having a community tree ordinance
  • spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry
  • celebrating Arbor Day

Tree Campus USA® Program

The Tree Campus USA program helps colleges and universities establish and sustain healthy community forests. A campus can receive annual recognition by meeting five standards

  • a campus tree advisory committee
  • campus tree care plan
  • campus tree program with dedicated annual expenditures
  • Arbor Day observance
  • a service learning project

Tree Line USA® program

  • annual worker training
  • tree planting
  • public education
  • an Arbor Day celebration
