Program Overview:

The WCG Rx Fire Initiative is funded again this year by a National Fish and Wildlife America the Beautiful Challenge grant, GADNR’s Bobwhite Quail Initiative, and partners and will impact over 10,000 acres in the West Central Georgia area in FY25.

Sign-Up Period:

  • FY25 applications will be accepted between 12/16/2024 – 3/31/2025
  • We anticipate the initiative will pay between $8.00 -$25.00 per acre (max $4500 per landowner) for approved prescribed burning on privately owned forested land.

General Guidelines:

  • The burn must be conducted in one of the following counties: Chattahoochee, Dooly, Harris, Macon, Marion, Muscogee, Schley, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor, or Webster.
  • This initiative focuses on increasing bobwhite quail and gopher tortoise habitats.
