Program Overview:

The FY24 WCG Rx Fire Initiative is funded again this year by National Fish and Wildlife America The Beautiful Challenge Grants, GDNR’s Bobwhite Quail Initiative, and partners impact approximately 10000 acres in the West Central Georgia area in FY24.

Sign-Up Period:

  • FY24 Applications will be accepted between 1/2/2024 – 3/31/2024.
  • We anticipate the initiative will pay between $8.00 – $25.00 per acre (max $3750 per landowner) for approved privately owned forested land.

General Guidelines:

  • The burn must be conducted in one of the following counties: Chattahoochee, Dooly, Harris, Macon, Marion, Muscogee, Schley, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor, or Webster.
  • This initiative focuses on increasing bobwhite quail and gopher tortoise habitats.
