* Georgia law no longer requires notification to the Georgia Forestry Commission by people planning to burn yard debris. Charges may apply if wildfire results from escaped burning and evidence show reasonable fire prevention precautions were not taken.
For customers who may need to reach out to GFC for burn permits or service requests, please contact us by telephone for prompt attention. Georgia’s state cybersecurity team is investigating an online security breach at our agency. No customer information has been compromised at this time, and the team is working diligently to resolve the issue and reinstate online communication channels. This affects all parts of GFC, including the nursery, headquarters and county units. We are experiencing glitches in our email system so responses may be delayed. In addition, the time required to fill Georgia Open Records Act requests may be longer than normal, due to some files being inaccessible at this time.
Should you need a permit to burn yard debris or hand-piled natural vegetation, please call 1-877-OK2-BURN. Call your local county unit for all other permit issues and service requests.
While there is no estimated time for resumption of electronic communications, be assured we are intently focused on this issue and will be back up and running when the problem is solved and we can assure safety for you and GFC.
