Smokey Bear wildfire prevention programs are available for kindergarten to second grade students and public events that conform to national guidelines.
Smokey Bear programs are available by appointment to groups of 100 or more. Please be aware a Smokey Bear program can be canceled at a last minute notice due to fire.

To schedule a Smokey Bear program, contact your local GFC county ranger.
Guidelines for Smokey Bear Programs
- Smokey Bear must be allowed to promote a fire prevention message; Wildfire prevention is Smokey’s ONLY message.
- Smokey Bear cannot promote or endorse a commercial product or a private business.
- Smokey’s image is friendly and dignified; Smokey does not play games, race, dance, etc.
- Smokey Bear must have a uniformed escort from either the Georgia Forestry Commission or the U.S. Forest Service.
- All speaking presentations are given by a uniformed escort.
- Smokey Bear appearances are limited to 10 – 20 minute segments; During hot weather, segments may be shorter.
- Smokey will not be allowed to walk extensively.
- Sponsors must provide an adequate, private dressing area for Smokey & escort.
- Only official artwork depicting Smokey Bear may be used in promoting an appearance.
