Forest Industry Continues to Boost Georgia’s Economy
A new report shows Georgia’s forest industry continues to deliver strong results for the state’s economy. The report shows the top three employment regions in Georgia for forestry related jobs are Atlanta, Southern Georgia, and Coastal Georgia. These areas account for almost half of the forestry related jobs in the state.

Special Team Dispatched to Spread Fire Safety Alerts
In response to the deepening drought and the rising risk of wildfire, a special team has been dispatched to north Georgia by the U.S. Forest Service and Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC).
High Fire Danger Impacts Outdoor Burning
Though burning leaf piles and campfires are hallmarks of fall, Georgia’s current drought is impacting decisions to burn outdoors. The Georgia Forestry Commission is urging everyone to follow established procedures and exercise extreme caution when using fire outside.
Forestry Commission Plants Special Seedlings in Dawson County
A tract of land in Dawson County will soon be growing some distinctive trees whose seeds will benefit Georgia for decades to come. The Georgia Forestry Commission has planted 60 specially-grafted shortleaf pines and 70 Virginia pines on a 2.5-acre site adjacent to its office on Highway 53.
