The fall foliage show in North Georgia is on its way, but it’s not quite here yet!
There’s very minimal color change throughout the forest canopy across all elevations.
You’ll see some tinges of red and orange, in dogwood, sourwood, and sumac.
Don’t forget, vines such as Virginia creeper and POISON IVY show reds and oranges, too, and are just as potent now as they were in summer.
GFC foresters expect another great season due to adequate spring and summer precipitation patterns. Leaf season should peak in the upper elevations during the second half of October. It looks as if lower elevations should peak within the first two weeks of November.
Early fall creates the perfect opportunity to enjoy some nice displays of fall wildflowers!
